1. Article:

It’s summer!

Many of you have been on vacation; some are getting ready to go. Others of you will have some free time to spend this month with yourself, your friends and your favorite pastimes.

No matter what you do, I ask you to make a determined effort to take some time to reflect on your life’s journey so far. If you don’t make yourself No. 1 in your life no one else will.

I have been doing a lot of introspection these past six months and have written many, many pages in my journal. I’ve sold my house, moved to a new place and begun a new phase of my life.

As a result I’ve written a Blog Post that I hope you will find inspiring. I hope too that you will dialogue with other readers of the Blog as to the meaning of your journey to wholeness

2. Questions & Action Step:

After you’ve read the Blog Post, I invite you to find a quiet peaceful spot and spend some uninterrupted time reflecting on your journey.

Here are some questions to ask:

“What does wholeness mean to me?”

“What have been some of my roadblocks to living an integral life?”

“Do I look at my issues through just one lens, or do I look at each problem as having a physical, mental, emotional and psychic component?

Then pick an issue you are faced with now and look at it from all the different angles, including the past and how it is impacting the present. But most of all how do you want to transform this issue so you can move forward in your life?

3. Inspiration: Quotes on Wholeness

Here are some quotes that have inspired me on my journey.

“There is not a fragment in all nature, for every relative fragment of one thing is a full harmonious unit in itself.” John Muir (1838 – 1914)

“Our spirituality lies in wholeness.” John Pierrakos

“Fulfilling the four needs [spiritual, mental, physical, social] in an integrated way is like combining elements in chemistry. When we reach a “critical mass” of integration, we experience spontaneous combustion–an explosion of inner synergy that ignites the fire within and gives vision, passion, and a spirit of adventure to life.” Stephen Covey

“A human being is a part of the whole, called by us “Universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” Albert Einstein

“Each circle is the wholeness of the moment, inclusive of the means and the end.” Kazuaki Tanahashi.

“As you ought not to attempt to cure the eyes without the head, or the head without the body, so neither ought you to attempt to cure the body without the soul; and this… is the reason why the cure of many diseases is unknown to the physicians of Greece (Hellas), because they are ignorant of the whole, which ought to be studied also; for the part can never be well unless the whole is well.” Plato, Charmides
